Well done to everyone who made an Easter bonnet, they looked brilliant.
We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter break.
This half term has been an interesting one for science.
We were very lucky to have had two scientists come and show us several practical experiments and tests, working with different materials, their properties and changing states.
We have been able to question and develop our topic on fire and ice learning about the combustion triangle (the components necessary to cause fire), think about water, fire, fuel and air and were able to join in a number of practical tasks.
We also got together for Big Science Day with year 4 and planned an experiment, thinking about the 6 steps in the scientific method (choosing the variables, predicting outcomes, planning a fair test, as well as carrying out the results and conclusions independently).
All in all, a lot of fun!
We've had a great day working with Kevin from Growing Ideas. We had to design our own fire engine from K'nex. Our vehicle needed to be able to support a cup of water without it spilling. We tested and improved our designs. When we were happy, we used our fire engine to put out the fire on Pudding Lane!
